Prayer for stress relief is one of humanity's most ancient practices.
As human beings, we all eventually face many challenges, uncertainties and losses.
It is part of life.
So there are times when we feel the need to access resources of love, wisdom and strength beyond what seems humanly possible.
Through prayer we are able to align with a power much greater than ourselves. This relieves enormous stress.
If God is our Creator, Omnipresent, All Powerful, the Source of our life and being, then He is always available.
It doesn’t matter where we are or what time it is. It doesn’t matter how disastrous the situation seems.
The prayer for stress relief can be whatever words come spontaneously from your own heart. Or your perfect prayer may be one you learned as part of your own spiritual tradition. I think the key is your genuine sincerity.
I do not mean to suggest that praying will necessarily give you the specific events you are seeking. It may not make the flood waters go away, or bring back to life the loved one who just passed.
But prayer, from the heart can always give us an internal, spiritual sense of safety, comfort and peace, regardless of the external circumstances we face.
There are so many traditions and prayers which can soothe and inspire us. Here is one very beautiful, classic example. In the video below Andrea Bocelli sings the Lord's Prayer accompanied by a full orchestra and choir.
"Joy is prayer, joy is strength, joy is love. Joy is a net of love by which you catch souls".
"Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts." - Mother Teresa
"Worshiping
God is singing the praise of God...Worship, or prayer is not to be
performed with the lips but with the heart"."
"Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart." - M.K. Gandhi
"Pray, and let God worry." - Martin Luther
"The greatest prayer is patience....do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." - The Buddha
"Prayers go up and blessings come down." - Yiddish Proverb
"I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day." - Abraham Lincoln
"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nautre of the one who prays." - Soren Kierdegaard
